It was great to see some new faces at the AGM on Wednesday. Despite sending out invites to join the league to pretty much every venue which has participated in our league over the last 10 years (which hasn’t been knocked down) , we came up with pretty much the same number of teams committed as last year. Unfortunately we lost a few but I hope they will return in the Winter or for the Summer next year. I’m determined to get this League back to at least 3 Zones over the next couple of years and i’ll be doing my homework on Pubs and clubs where Darts is possible to try and convince them to join in. I’d welcome any ideas from others on how to target new teams.
I’m delighted that Lower Green and The Wellington’s teams have grown enough to field two sides each this year. I was also pleased that we were able to fill all the positions for the commitee to form the new Summer league season without any arm twisting. Thank you to all of you who put your names forward. I’m looking forward to working with you and a much less hectic season.
I’ll be doing the draw for the league shortly and the teams will appear on the site shortly. I won’t be posting the fixtures on the site though until after the collection date and everyone is paid up.
I will be including a short break in the fixtures for the World Cup. The only real clash with Tuesday nights seems to be for the Semi-finals (should England make it that far!). This will be nominated a free week. I’m not able to fit any more free weeks into the middle of the season without losing a free week at the end or the Champions of Champions evening which is being re-introduced. I think this will work out ok though.
